  • Global Scholarship Award Application Deadline 11/15/23

    The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is advancing world 
    health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. Sigma’s 
    vision is to be the global organization of choice for nursing.
    The Gamma Chapter is proud to make $1,000 available to be used toward trip expenses, 
    conference fees, or other program costs for a trip abroad. This award supports ANY active dues 
    paying Gamma Chapter member who is interested in traveling abroad to enhance their nursing 
    experience and support the mission of Sigma. The award should be used towards activities 
    related to the nursing or healthcare field, which will be determined by the Gamma board upon 
    submission of the application.

  • Clinical Performance Improvement Award Application Deadline 11/15/23

    The purpose of the Clinical Performance Improvement Award (CPIA) is to recognize nurses in clinical practice who have demonstrated innovative and high-quality practice. A $500 award is to be given for projects, or activities in process, or completed projects.

  • Fundraising and Volunteering Opportunity

    For the 2nd year the Gamma Chapter will raise funds for materials to create tie blankets. Tie blanket construction will take place Wednesday November 8th 4:30-7:30 pm at the College of Nursing. All are invited to join in putting the blankets together. 

    Blankets will be donated to the UIHC Stead Family Children's Hospital.

    Undergraduate Leadership Intern Program 

      

    Are you a born leader?  Do you ever wish you could be more of a leader than a follower?  Would you like to be mentored by other leaders in the nursing profession?  If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then the Undergraduate Leadership Intern Program might be for you! 

     

    The Leadership Intern Program provides one member the opportunity to work closely with the leaders of the Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.  As the Leadership Intern, you will function as a leader-in-training within the organization. 

     

    Eligibility Criteria: 

    • Active membership in Sigma Theta Tau, Gamma Chapter, during the internship
    • Interest in leadership development
    • Potential for and willingness to serve as a leader within the Chapter or at the regional level
    • Completion of leadership application
    • Undergraduate in a nursing program

     

    You will receive various benefits for your service including: 

    • Payment for the second year of Gamma membership
    • Ability to network with nurse leaders
    • Leadership skill development
    • Great resume builder
    • Payment to take NCLEX

     

    You will be responsible for carrying out important duties for the health and vitality of the chapter including: 

    • Work with the current student intern for one semester to assist transition
    • Assist with membership involvement initiatives
    • Attend/support board meetings
    • Chair the Community Service Committee with support from the board
    • Work on a project with a Chapter Officer & the Committee.The project will be mutually determined by the Intern and the Chapter Officer. 

     

    The Leadership Intern’s tenure will last from the time of induction through the month of their graduation.
